meet Whitney
Whitney Walker-Gill is a Charleston, South Carolina native, raised on the sandy beaches of Isle of Palms. The oldest of seven, she’s been painting since she could hold a brush. Deeply family-and-faith-oriented, her work draws from memories and snapshots of her childhood - her little brothers and sister playing in the Wando River’s creek beds, fishing from jon boats, surfing after school, and the everyday magic of Lowcountry life.
Whitney graduated from The Art Institute in 2014 and has been showing around Charleston ever since. She has been featured by the Mount Pleasant Artists Guild and earned several scholarships during her time at The Art Institute. She is known by locals for her exhibitions at the restaurant of well-known artist and restaurateur Sermet Aslan on Daniel Island.
Her vision is simple: to ease anxiety and depression and offer a breath of calm. Through bright coastal palettes, sun-lit movement, and playful textures, she hopes to transport viewers to the beach—immersing them in joy, tide, and Lowcountry light. Staying true to her love of the ocean, Whitney gives new life to reclaimed and thrifted canvases whenever she can, keeping her practice as sustainable as possible.
So take a deep breath, picture yourself in the middle of one of Whitney’s paintings, and enjoy a little sunshine.
